Mission:
This new project was born of a desire to help island residents, especially older women and single moms, through cooperation with established groups on the islands.
Zonta Partnership:
An initial grant was awarded to Sanibel Community Housing & Resources (CHR), which provides below-market rate housing, to assist in the purchase and renovation of 10 units of housing.
Zontians are also working with CHR to develop a program to serve single moms.
An initial grant was also awarded to Friends in Service Here (FISH), which provides services for island residents in need, to upgrade equipment in its new Sanibel-Captiva office. This will assist in
meeting the growing demand for services, with 85 percent of requests coming from women and girls. Meeting these needs ensures quality of life and independence. |
