Health Care Access Advocacy

Overview:

Women's health

Mission:

Lack of affordable health care disproportionately affects women because of traditionally lower incomes and greater need for health care. Nationally, one in every five non-elderly women lacks health insurance. In Lee County, it’s one in three.

Zonta Partnership:

Our initial focus is on education and building public awareness. As a kickoff, Zonta sponsored a community-wide presentation by
Jim Nathan, Lee Memorial Health System CEO, on the health care crisis in Southwest Florida.

Zonta will continue partnering with the Community Health Visioning project and other groups focusing on women’s health care issues.
