Excitement is building among the membership of the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva as plans take shape for the 11th annual "A Peek at the Unique," on March 24, 2012-- the club’s signature fundraiser. Each year since its inception, the event has grown, raising more money and involving more businesses and individuals from throughout the island community. From a first year net of $12,000 to a more recent high of $72,000 this event is now enjoyed by 500 ticket holders, 70 Zontians and the over 150 sponsoring businesses and individual benefactors and ultimately the women who are helped through our partners.
The tour begins at Sanibel Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, where Peekers, as our guests are called, enjoy signature dishes donated and served by local restaurants, grocers or caterers. At their appointed time (every half hour from 9am to 3:30 pm), Peekers get on the bus and are transported to four unique homes around the islands. En route, the bus captain educates the guests about Zonta and (hopefully) entertains with anecdotes about the houses and the islands. At each home, a speaker, knowledgeable about what makes the house unique, gathers the Peekers to give them a brief synopsis of the highlights of the house to appreciate. As the over 500 Peekers disembark after the almost 3 hour tour they receive a Peek Perks envelope with coupons from local businesses.
The monies raised by the Peek are granted by the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida to local and international organizations that are consistent with the Zonta mission: to advance the status of women and girls worldwide. In 2011, the PEEK raised over $72,000 through ticket sales and sponsorships.
TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets for the buses go on sale January 30, 2012. In order to get tickets for buses, you can either download the form in the Announcement section below or mail it to the post office box, or better yet, you can call the ticket line at 1-888-891-4689. Tickets are $65 each and can be paid for by credit card or check. At the first of March a letter will be mailed telling you your specific bus time. Tickets always go very fast, so place your order as soon as possible. Sorry there are no refunds.

SPONSOR/BENEFACTOR INFORMATION
Key to a successful Peek are the businesses and individuals that are sponsoring the event. Sponsorships are offered at various levels, from an overall event, house, coupon, and program sponsors. Businesses receive various levels of press associated with Zonta's Peek before, during, and after the event. Look for information about the various sponsorship options available in the Sponsor agreement form. Individual benefactors will be listed in the program.

"CHANCE AT THE UNIQUE" RAFFLE INFORMATION
As part of the March 24th Peek fundraiser, Zonta sponsors a "Chance at the Unique" raffle of unique prizes. Tickets are sold by Zontians during the two months prior to the Peek. Winners will be drawn at the conclusion of Peek day (you do not need to be present to win but you do need to buy a ticket!). Only a limited number of tickets are sold, and they are available from any Zonta member for just $10. Tickets will also be on sale at Baileys’ during the weekends in February, one Sunday at the Farmer’s Market, throughout January, February and early March at Watson MacCrae gallery in the Village Shops and at the Peek on the day of the tour. When a ticket is purchased the buyer chooses which of the 6 prizes they want to win. This year the prizes include: “Sport Adventure Package”, “Island Shopping Spree”, “Day of Beauty at the Day Spa @‘Tween Waters Inn”, “Five days in New York City studio apartment for two”, “Seven Days and Nights at Sundial Beach Resort for Four”, and “Luc Century vase and a gift certificate at the Watson/MacRae Gallery”.

Tickets are $10 donation per ticket. Tickets are on sale by Zonta members, at Bailey's Store on weekends. Six separate drawings will take place on March 24th after the Peek tour. You do not need to be present to win. |
