Peek at the Unique - March 14, 2020 - Saturday

Out of responsibility and concern for the health of our supporters and members because of the COVID-19 virus the Peek at the Unique 2020 has been cancelled. Check back here for information about the auctions and the purchase of the incredible nature photo show by photographers Sara Lopez and Dick Fortune. There will be an opportunity to bid on the auction items and to puchase the DVD show. Email for more information.

Many of you have emailed to notify us that you are donating the price of your tickets and you are wondering when the virtual tour will be available. It is ALMOST done! Soon you will receive the links - we promise. As we are all volunteers, many with day jobs, it took a bit longer than we had hoped. If you did not have a ticket to the house tour but you want to be able to receive and take the virtual tour you can buy a ticket to the virtual tour. For more information email us at

In case you do not know about the event, here is general information: Saturday, March 14, 2020 is the date of the 19th annual “A Peek at the Unique,” the record-setting home tour and signature fund raiser for the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva and the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida. It is a sought-after day out for islanders, seasonal residents and visitors from off island.

The guided tour of four or five island homes, each one unique in its own way, takes about three hours. Guests ride comfortably on air-conditioned buses with an experienced tour attendant and receive specific information about each home visited. Prior to boarding, they enjoy delicious refreshments provided by leading island restaurants and caterers. The tour departure point will again be the Sanibel Community Church, reopened after extensive renovations and improvements.

Funds raised come from tour ticket sales, business sponsors, individual benefactors and Chance at the Unique Raffle ticket sales. Proceeds from the 2019 Peek  were the highest ever, and the club will distribute over $100,000 in grants to local organizations that focus on improving the status of women. This is in addition to over $30,000 pledged to Zonta International in support of global initiatives that target women’s needs for health, financial independence and freedom from violence and slavery. The monies raised by the Peek are distributed in grants by the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit group, to local and international organizations that are consistent with the Zonta mission: to empower women and girls on island, in Lee County and throughout the world.
